WOCAF Board

Founder/CEO
Mojisola Sonoiki is the founder of the WOCAF Festival and WOCAF International. Ms Sonoiki’s background is in IT but considers herself a writer and cultural activist at heart. For the last 16 years, she has curated, programmed, and consulted on various film festivals and cultural events around the world. As the founder of àFRIsistahs based out of London, UK a collective that promoted visual and performance arts/artists from the continent and diaspora, she curated and coordinated the first of its kind sold-out mini film festival of short films by Black women filmmakers from Africa, the Caribbean, the UK, and US called “È wá wò (come & see)– Sistahs in Film -Film Festival” in Brixton, London in April 1999.

In 2005 Ms Sonoiki founded Atlanta’s Women of Color International film festival now known as the Women of Color Arts & Film Festival. In 2009, The WOCAF Festival received a proclamation from the Atlanta city council recognizing the contributions of the Women of Color Arts & Film Festival in celebrating the contributions of women of color in the arts and film. In 2008, 12 films from the WOCAF festival were showcased at the Zuma Film festival in Abuja, Nigeria and 7 of them won awards including awards for Best Editor, Best Cinematographer and Best Foreign Film.

Ms Sonoiki is the recipient of the Beverly Robinson Renaissance Award from the Pan African Film Festival Denver given to a dynamic woman-cultural worker who through her community involvement displays excellence and compassion in her artistic, academic, and/or activist work.

Secretary
Maino Ikime is a writer internet marketer, webmaster, blogger and social media guru. He has over 12 years experience in creating and marketing websites and speaks fluent French and German.

Treasurer
Heidi Small has over fifteen years experience working with local and state government entities, fortune 500 companies and large non-profit organizations delivering financial management and leadership courses, presentations and workshops. She holds a degree in Businesses administrations and is currently the Director of Leadership Development for a large Health organization in Atlanta, Georgia.

Advisory Board

Gbugbemi Okotiero is currently the Associate Dean of Government and External Relations at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York. Gbugbemi is the college’s liaison and or point person with city, state and federal elected and appointed officials. Prior to coming to Medgar Evers College he was the chief of staff to the honorable Mary Pinkett for several years where he played a significant role in policy formulation and worked with a wide array of constituencies within City, State and Federal government and good government organizations.
Gbugbemi Okotieuro is a holder of a Bachelors degree in Film and theater Production and a Masters degree in Public Administration.
